Artist Statement
The emotional tone juxtaposes softness and severity, reflecting a tension between a gentle presence and sharp boundaries. I chose a palette of cool and warm colors to emphasize this contrast: warm white and powder pink embody softness, while carbon black and sharp crimson represent severity. This results in a visual narrative of containment and overflow. The main contrast occurs centrally, where the warmer tones clash with darker hues, creating a striking visual interruption that invites contemplation. The layout incorporates broken edges to symbolize imperfection, evoking feelings of unresolved emotions. Overall, the arrangement captures a dynamic interplay of emotions, flowing from the softness of pink and white into the darker tones that assert a more severe presence. The asymmetrical pattern underscores the push and pull of each emotional aspect, leaving negative space to breathe and amplify the tension.
