Artist Statement
The emotional tone captures the conflict between envy and gratitude, embodied by contrasting textures and colors. The palette of deep blacks and soft whites, accented with pale blue, represents the turmoil and calmness within these emotions. The left side evokes envy through sharp contrasts and a checker pattern, while the right side reflects gratitude with softer noise, juxtaposing rigidity and fluidity. Key collisions occur at the center, where hard edges meet gentler transitions, echoing the interplay of fear and hope as they fill the empty space of the 'room'. The gradual rise and fall in tones symbolize the flux between these opposing emotions, creating a sense of unresolved motion.
