Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects the conflict between defiance and submission, represented by two distinct areas: the top four rows embodying an upward, angular resistance with vibrant colors against a muted backdrop, while the bottom four rows illustrate a downward softness with lower intensity hues. The palette, drawn from gratitude and envy, includes rich greens and warm golds symbolizing hope and constraint. The main contrast occurs at the horizontal split, where the bold, ringing patterns of defiance collide with the shattered, more chaotic textures of submission, creating a dynamic interplay that suggests tension and negotiation. This is emphasized by broken pixels that resemble scars, introducing imperfections to heighten the sense of emotional conflict.
