Artist Statement
The emotional tone embodies the struggle between loneliness and connection, reflected through the juxtaposition of darkness and gold. Black and dark violet symbolize isolation, while soft gold and pale green represent fleeting moments of connection. There's a rising flow from bottom to top, suggesting hope or the desire to reach out of loneliness. The placement of colors creates tension; the center soft gold 'burst' contrasts sharply with the surrounding darker hues, evoking the sensation of warmth breaking through cold solitude. The chaotic placement in the upper rows suggests the chaotic nature of interpersonal connection amidst isolation, while the lower rows resonate with a heavier, static quality, establishing a balance between oppressive silence and the urgency to connect.
