Artist Statement
This piece explores the tension between nostalgia and progress through a deliberate use of color and placement. The palette features warm reds and pinks juxtaposed with muted grays and dark maroon, embodying the emotive weight of memory against the sharpness of forward momentum. By employing a bottom weighted layout, I simulate the grounding nature of nostalgia contrasted with the strive for upward movement toward progress. The dripped patterns symbolize the unpredictability of emotional experiences, capturing both calm and rage. The colors clash at the center, representing a collision of feelings, while also maintaining negative space to offer breaths of calm amidst chaos.
