Artist Statement
This artwork embodies the emotional dichotomy of relief and dread. The color palette, featuring pale mint and faded gold, emphasizes a luminous edge against the dark storm gray and near black, creating a sharp contrast. The layout splits the 8x8 grid horizontally, with the top half representing dread through an organized static pattern, while the bottom half bursts with relief through pulse marks, deliberately breaking some cells with darker shades to represent imperfection and tension. The collision of these patterns, especially at the center where tension plays out, invites the viewer to experience the interplay between pressure and tranquil release.
