Artist Statement
The emotional tone explores the conflict between envy and gratitude, showing a grayish hue of envy contrasting against warm sepia, symbolizing gratitude. The outer edges are filled with muted greys, representing the heaviness of envy, while the center is occupied by a staggered grid of tan and faded blue, illustrating the lightness of gratitude. Broken pixels were scattered intentionally to create a feeling of imperfection throughout the pattern. The structure creates a visual representation of the zigzag emotional journey, with tensions and releases mirrored visually. Overall, the arrangement captures the essence of feeling 'center-heavy' and the struggle between opposing emotions where lightness tries to pierce through weight.
