Artist Statement
This artwork explores the interplay of joy and grief, symbolizing ascent and descent through color and placement. The palette combines rich blues for grief with vibrant yellows and oranges for joy, creating a tension between warm and cool tones. A vertical wave flow is used, with pixels clustering heavily on the left side (grief) while gradually lightening towards the right (joy), reflecting the asymmetrical weight of these emotions. Broken pixels introduce imperfection, resonating with themes of love and betrayal, while negative space provides a needed contrast, echoing feelings of emptiness within fullness.
