Artist Statement
This composition captures the emotional duality of strength and vulnerability through a deliberate clash of colors. The palette of pinks, reds, and grays illustrates both warmth and coldness, accentuating the tension between the exposed, vulnerable center and the protective boundaries imposed by darker shades like dark maroon. The main collision occurs where the lighter hues interject against the denser colors, symbolizing the struggle between feeling safe and the fear of exposure. This is reinforced by broken pixels that create imperfections throughout the piece, reminiscent of scars and repairs, allowing an undercurrent of vulnerability to seep through. The layout acts as a threshold, invoking a passage where the emotions meet and diverge, providing a narrative of exposure and shelter.
