Artist Statement
The emotional tone embodies the tension between nostalgia and progress, captured through a duality of muted depth and sharp contrast. The palette of black, dark violet, soft gold, and pale green reflects a spectrum from heaviness to uplift, suggesting the weight of memory against the flicker of future possibilities. The main collision occurs horizontally, where the dense black and dark violet create a grounding weight that interrupts the lighter hues, depicting a struggle between a full past and a hollow progression. The drip flow evokes a continuous motion, merging the two contrasting emotions through irregular patterns of dots and broken dots, reminiscent of memories trickling into the future, while maintaining a sense of negative space to suggest pauses in this flow.
