Artist Statement
The emotional tone juxtaposes feelings of loneliness with connection, embodying the tension between isolation and shared experience. The selected palette of sepia, tan, dust gray, and faded blue presents a muted landscape that signifies an ancient fire of human connection, with warm browns suggesting warmth and cool blues representing distance. The rows are split horizontally, emphasizing the deeper loneliness in the upper half, represented by darker shades and fragmented patterns, while the bottom half introduces a more interconnected maze structure with lighter colors, reflecting a struggle towards connection. The main contrast arises from the shift in density; the upper rows are intentionally sparse with negative space, symbolizing loneliness, while the lower rows create a structured pulse through denser clusters, indicating connection, thus embodying the central theme of the artwork.
