Artist Statement
This artwork explores the emotional dichotomy of softness versus severity through a carefully selected palette of muted and stark colors. The warm white and powder pink represent softness, while carbon black and sharp crimson introduce severity. The layout is designed with a dense center using checker patterns to symbolize softness colliding with the quiet field of severity on the edges, creating tension. The diagonal flow from dark to light illustrates a gradual release from pressure to calmness, with intentional broken pixels adding imperfection and disruption, hinting at guilt and forgiveness in the narrative. The overall composition reflects a leaning toward softness, occupying 65% of the square's area, while preserving a sense of negative space along the edges.
