Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects a struggle between confusion and clarity, with the use of colors creating a visual representation of this duality. The selected palette of sepia, tan, dust gray, and faded blue evokes a sense of memory and introspection, where sepia and tan offer warmth and nostalgia while gray and blue introduce calm yet detached elements. The main contrast occurs between the warm sepias and the cool blues, creating an emotional tension that reflects the confusion aspect of the seed. The broken pixels introduce imperfection; they suggest an interruption in symmetry, resonating with feelings of discord while maintaining a subtle balance. The pattern is governed by mirroring with shadowed areas left intentionally vacant to embody the negative space, allowing for an airy quality that contrasts the densely packed colors, symbolizing clarity emerging from confusion.
