Artist Statement
This piece communicates the emotional tension between loneliness and connection through contrasting light and dark hues. The palette of black, dark violet, soft gold, and pale green emphasizes the melancholy of isolation against the warmth of potential connection. The upper four rows convey loneliness, with darker colors dominating, allowing for large negative spaces that symbolize emptiness. The bottom rows represent connection, where soft golds and greens weave in and out, creating a feeling of warmth and invitation amid structured chaos. This abstract representation echoes the complexities of emotion through a zigzag flow, while the hard edges emphasize the stark contrast between feelings of being left out and the warmth of reaching out.
