Artist Statement
This artwork captures the emotional dichotomy of joy and grief using a palette of bright yellows and muted purples. The top four rows symbolize joy, using a crosshatch pattern to signify openness and celebration, while the bottom four rows represent grief with a checker pattern, representing fragmentation and loss. The center horizontally split layout reflects the push and pull between these emotions, creating a dynamic interaction where bright yellow arcs clash against deep blues and muted purples, echoing the tension of love and betrayal. The use of broken pixel placements adds to the feeling of imperfection and disruption inherent in these emotions.
