Artist Statement
This piece captures the emotional tension between longing and resolve through a dynamic balance of color and pattern. The chosen palette of rich blacks, vibrant reds, and soft pale blues evokes a sense of cross-current feelings, where the deeper blacks represent the heavy weight of longing, while the radiant reds symbolize the fiery intensity of resolve. The diagonal flow introduces a sense of movement, echoing the push and pull of these emotions. The primary collision occurs in the center with the interplay of darker and lighter pixels, interrupting the visual space, suggesting intimacy and distance. Negative space is preserved to allow the viewer to breathe amidst the emotional density, making the overall composition a palpable tension of suppressed longing against a backdrop of resolute strength.
