Artist Statement

The emotional tone of defiance versus submission manifests as a clash between bright, aggressive colors and muted, receding shades. The main palette employs warm coral and soft amber to symbolize defiance and submission, respectively, while cold slate and blue-black provide contrasting ambient effects. The collision occurs in the center, where dark and light colors interact, representing conflict and tension. The ‘open_gate’ layout allows the colors to spill inward, creating an interrupted flow against a predominantly warm field, establishing a dynamic yet controlled chaos. Broken pixels are intentionally placed to disrupt the pattern’s perfectness, suggesting scars from confrontation or struggle, embodying the emotional complexity of the seed.
