Artist Statement
This piece reflects the emotional tension between loneliness and connection through color and placement. The top half is dominated by darker, muted tones representing loneliness, using #5B3A29 (burnt orange) and #4E2B2C (dark red) to create a sense of weight and isolation. The bottom half contrasts with lighter, more vibrant colors like #E5AC32 (gold) and #E2E462 (soft yellow) to symbolize potential connection and warmth. The central placement of darker hues against lighter surrounding colors signifies the hidden versus exposed theme, with broken pixels punctuating the imagery to emphasize imperfections in emotional experiences. The pattern embodies bursts of vibrancy piercing through the loneliness, embodying the struggle of emotional connection.
