Artist Statement
This composition contrasts the rigidity of defiance against the softness of submission, represented by a dynamic interplay of color. The palette selected—featuring the calming pale aqua and mist gray alongside the urgent alarm red and ink blue—mirrors the tensions of serenity and urgency. The center's dense red and dark tones suggest a defiance that seems almost explosive, while the softer, muted colors radiate outwards, creating a quiet border that indicates submission. The placement of the darker colors at the center interrupts the lighter hues, metaphorically embodying a clash at the threshold of emotion, symbolizing the struggle between opposing forces.
