Artist Statement
This piece explores the emotional tension between softness and severity, using a palette of powder pink, warm white, carbon black, steel gray, and sharp crimson. The palette was selected to juxtapose warm tones against cold darks, exemplifying a dynamic play between comfort and intensity. The dark shades create weight and boundary, while the softer hues offer gentle interruptions. The center of the grid showcases a dense cluster of pink and gray, creating a sense of quiet pressure disrupted by the stark black and crimson 'stepwell' marks, symbolizing the collisions between emotional facets. This arrangement embodies the suggested spiral of emotions where softness attempts to negotiate with severity.
