Artist Statement
This artwork captures the tension between defiance and submission through its contrasting color palette of deep black, striking red, soft pale blue, and pure white. The central tension emerges from the stark juxtaposition of dark, oppressive colors in the lower half, symbolizing the weight of submission, against lighter, more open colors at the top, representing defiance.
