Artist Statement
This artwork captures the emotional duality of joy and grief through a contrast in color and pattern. The palette consists of vibrant yellows and oranges juxtaposed against muted purples and deep blues, illustrating the clash between buoyancy and heaviness. The layout employs a falling pixels pattern to evoke a sensation of sorrow entwined with moments of fleeting joy. The zigzag pattern of joy clashes with the flame-like grief, while the bottom-weighted edge emphasizes a heaviness in the lower half.
