Artist Statement
This artwork encapsulates the intense interplay between joy and grief through a structured yet fractured arrangement. The choice of colors reflects the two emotions: warm yellows and oranges symbolizing joy, contrasted by cool deep blues and muted purples representing grief. The left side celebrates openness and expansion, while the right portrays the complexity and fragmentation associated with loss. The almost symmetrical layout is intentionally broken by introduced disturbances, creating a visual metaphor for the chaos within emotional experiences. The flow spirals from the center outward, suggesting movement from internal conflict to external expression, bringing forth the essence of stability versus tumult. The 'hard edges' provoke a sense of clarity amidst the chaos, while the use of negative space reinforces the juxtaposition between density and quietness, inviting viewers to contemplate the dual nature of these emotions.
