Artist Statement
This piece embodies the tension between fear and hope, using dark colors to convey fear and lighter shades to express hope. The black and dark violet dominate, reflecting fear's weight and density, while softened glows of pale green and soft gold rise, hinting at hope. The edge of the square holds jagged, darker tones that contrast sharply with the bright center, suggesting a rising signal amidst brokenness, both visually and emotionally disruptive. The arrangement creates a zigzag flow, symbolizing the journey between these conflicting emotions, leaving negative space to underscore isolation and possibility.
