Artist Statement
This composition explores the tension between nostalgia and progress through color and pattern. The palette combines sepia tones and softer blues, invoking memories while also suggesting movement and new beginnings. The darker, fuller colors dominate the bottom half to convey weight and nostalgia, while lighter tones punctuate the upper half, representing the lightness of progress. The horizontal split adds to the feeling of divergence and convergence, creating a dialogue between two realities. The broken pixels introduce imperfections, enhancing the theme of memory's fragility and the notion of moving forward despite uncertainty.
