Artist Statement
This composition embodies the contrasting emotions of softness and severity, utilizing a palette that aligns with these tones. The warm whites and powder pinks represent softness, while the carbon black and sharp crimson evoke severity. The main collision occurs in the center where the 'stairs' pattern of the severity intersects with the gentle 'channels' of softness. This creates a tension that mirrors the emotional struggle inherent in the seed. The layout, featuring a threshold of black and white, illustrates the collision of opposites, highlighting the delicate balance between guilt and forgiveness. Negative space is preserved to emphasize openness while still contributing to a sense of containment.
