Artist Statement
This artwork invokes the emotional tension between loneliness and connection through contrasting colors and intentional placements. The palette combines stark blacks with pale blues to symbolize the struggle between isolation (darkness) and connection (light). In the center, a burst of pale blue within the black forms a focal point, reminiscent of a hidden seed of hope amidst despair. The arrangement is designed with a heavier weight towards the top, creating a feeling of pressure while allowing for negative space that underscores the emptiness felt in solitude. The crosshatched pattern conveys a rhythmic pulse, highlighting both the potential for connection and the pain of loneliness, manifesting as clashing areas of light and dark as they interplay throughout the square.
