Artist Statement
The emotional tone of this piece explores the tension between softness and severity, reflected in the contrasting palette of warm whites and cool blacks. The use of powder pink and steel gray represents the dance of gentleness against rigidity, allowing the colors to pulse inward and outward across the grid. The main collision occurs at the center, where sharp crimson marks interrupt the quiet fields, evoking feelings of guilt juxtaposed with forgiveness. This arrangement of broken pixels enhances the theme of interruption, while maintaining a sense of open space. The layout of ‘two pulses’ leads to both visual and emotional flow, suggesting a rhythmic convergence and divergence reminiscent of unresolved emotions.
