Artist Statement
This composition explores the emotional duality of strength and vulnerability through contrasting patterns and colors. The warm ivory and soft gold evoke warmth and safety, representing strength, and dominate the top half of the grid. In contrast, deeper, more muted shades of stain brown and deep wine introduce a sense of weight and vulnerability, addressing the themes of exposure and fragility. Broken pixels scattered throughout the grid create intentional disruptions, symbolizing the scars of vulnerability amidst the stronger hues. The layout invites the viewer to feel both the pressing density and the quiet spaces, presenting a balanced tension between contrasting emotional states.
