Artist Statement
This piece reflects the emotional tension between desire and emptiness. The palette combines warm tones, like hot coral and blood orange, symbolizing desire, against the cooler, subdued hollow blue and charcoal, representing emptiness. The split-screen pattern brings forth a dynamic clash between saturations that imply an overflow of longing while simultaneously framed by containment. The center features a collision of these emotional colors, creating both pressure and quiet, reflecting the balance and chaos of these feelings. Broken pixels are strategically placed to enhance imperfection, adding depth and complexity to the narrative, suggesting the scars left by conflicting emotions.
