Artist Statement
This piece encapsulates the tension between dread and relief through a split horizontal layout. The top half is dominated by muted grays and broken pixel forms, representing dread with heavy, stratified stripes that feel oppressive. In contrast, the lower half introduces lighter tones, creating an impression of exhalation and relief through a crosshatch pattern that loosens into breathable space, suggesting a transition from chaos to calm. The palette of soft sky, storm gray, and faded gold enhances these emotional irregularities, while the main collision occurs at the midpoint, where darkness meets light, capturing the struggle between order and chaos.
