Artist Statement
The artwork embodies the emotional narrative of conflict through a contrasting palette. The deep wine suggests an intense defiance, while the soft gold invokes submission and a sense of warmth. The center of the artwork serves as the focal point of conflict, where defiance collides head-on with submission. The stepwell pattern emerges in dark shades at the center, contrasting with the split-screen layout on the edges, creating a sense of 'broken pixels' that symbolically disrupt the order. This juxtaposition is reflected in the colors, enhancing the themes of chaos and calm, mirroring the struggles of open vs closed. Each color is selected to suggest emotional weight, contributing to a rhythm that shifts from pressure to quiet, ultimately portraying a balance of tumult and tranquility throughout the square.
