Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects a conflict between defiance and submission, represented through the juxtaposition of strong, dark colors on the edges versus lighter, softer ones in the center. The palette combines storm gray and near black to signify defiance, while pale mint and faded gold suggest submission, creating a tension that reflects the contrasting emotions. The main collision occurs between the outer border and the inner 4x4 square, where the colors overlap yet clearly differ, emphasizing the theme of open versus closed. Broken pixels introduce a sense of disruption, mirroring life's imperfections amid the overall structure of the piece.
