Artist Statement
This abstract piece embodies the emotional tension between nostalgia and progress through a dichotomy of colors and placements. The chosen palette of deep black, dark violet, soft gold, and pale green encapsulates the weight and lightness of these contrasting emotions. The split layout represents the rise and fall metaphor, with the upper section speckled with soft gold and pale green as symbols of progress, interrupted by unexpected dark violet elements that evoke nostalgia. The bottom is heavier and darker to suggest the weight of memories, creating a striking collision that holds the viewer's gaze while allowing for a sense of quiet reflection. The interplay of structured patterns against open space mirrors the ongoing conflict between built environments and natural, organic forms.
