Artist Statement
This composition reflects the emotional dichotomy of loneliness and connection through contrasting shades and placements. The palette, reminiscent of love and betrayal with its deep reds, soft pinks, and muted grays, creates a visceral underpinning of warmth and isolation. The grid pattern is crosshatched with fragmented pixels, symbolizing the hidden versus exposed aspects of relationships. The top-weighted layout accentuates the burst of color at the center, where connection feels most intense, yet it steadily fades into darker, more isolating hues on the peripheries. The arrangement has intentional negative space, allowing the viewer’s eye to linger on areas of solitude amid the stark contrasts, suggesting that while connections may ignite warmth, the encroaching loneliness is always nearby.
