Artist Statement
This composition captures the tension between clarity and disruption, echoing the emotional dualities of ‘signal’ and ‘noise’. The dominant shade of dead black provides a robust boundary, representing the encapsulating nature of noise, while the electric blue and hot magenta introduce vibrant pulses within the 4x4 core, illustrating moments of clarity. The use of static gray reflects interference, mingling subtly, but clearly breaks through in the patterned core, where the colors collide and interact, demonstrating how memory (the quiet spaces) is affected by the chaos of noise. The arrangement allows the vibrant ‘signal’ colors to ripple through, illustrating continuity amidst breakdown.
