Artist Statement
The emotional tone reflects a struggle between opposing forces, symbolized by defiance and submission. The selected palette of deep, warm colors (burnt orange, dark red) in contrast with charcoal creates a dramatic tension that resonates with themes of conflict. The layout features descending shapes, resembling falling pixels, creating a rhythmic flow of lightness against the encompassing darkness. The predominance of warmer colors near the center signifies defiance while the edges, echoing submission, are filled with cooler, muted shades. The inclusion of broken pixels introduces imperfection and dynamism, vital in articulating emotional shifts, leading to an overall sense of unresolved tension.
