Artist Statement
This piece captures the emotional dichotomy of strength and vulnerability through contrasting colors and patterns. The palette combines clean white and ice blue to represent vulnerability, while ink black and warning orange signify strength. The strong contrast between warm and cool tones evokes tension, flowing from the center (strength) to the edges (vulnerability). The use of a ring pattern in lighter colors around stable crosshatch blocks creates an impression of a protected core under an exposed surface, drawing on the themes of shelter versus exposure. Broken pixels disrupt the overall structure, embodying imperfections inherent in our emotional experiences.
