Artist Statement
The composition explores the emotional tension between defiance and submission, represented by a strong contrast in colors and forms. The palette of deep burnt orange, dark red, and charcoal creates an intense atmosphere, while the gold accents symbolize bright refusal amidst the subdued environment of submission. The collision occurs in the center, where checker patterns disrupt crack patterns, creating an echo of resistance. Negative space is employed to enhance the feeling of pressure versus release, offering pockets of calm amidst dense clusters of color.
