Artist Statement
This artwork reflects the emotional tension between longing and resolve through a carefully chosen palette of muted cream, blackened plum, iron gray, red oxide, and small orange. The contrasting areas create a pulse of energy that flows from the center outward, resonating with feelings of both serenity and urgency. The main collision occurs at the center, where the two patterns of longing (islands) and resolve (ash field) intersect, creating an intentional disruption, visually representing the push and pull of human emotion. Broken pixels are introduced to signify damage and repair, adding texture and complexity to the piece, while the negative space allows the colors to breathe, embodying a quiet gap amidst the turmoil.
