Artist Statement
This piece embodies the conflict between the brightness of sparks and the muted tones of ash. The palette, consisting of black, dark violet, soft gold, and pale green, reflects the emotional dichotomy of fear versus hope. The main collision occurs in the center, where the warmer soft gold suddenly disrupts the cooler black and violet. The diagonal flow suggests movement and tension, while the halo of ash mingles imperfectly with pulse-like marks of sparks, creating an abstract representation of struggle and resilience. The broken pixels introduce intentional imperfections, hinting at the fragility of memory and the scars of restraint. The layout is structured yet unbalanced, with one side echoing the other but disrupted by random deviations, evoking unease and curiosity.
