Artist Statement
This composition captures the tension between control and surrender by juxtaposing a structured, static grid on the left with a dynamic, responsive lattice on the right. The palette of deep blue, pale yellow, and stone feels both melancholic and hopeful, embodying the contrasts of mourning and renewal. The dense center is characterized by thick outlines of mourning black, suggesting a heavy emotional weight, while the softened edges in pale yellow provide a sense of tender release. Broken pixels throughout create disruption, fostering an atmosphere of unresolved emotion. The main collision occurs in the center and expands outward, reflecting the struggle between embracing and resisting change.
