Artist Statement
This composition reflects the interplay between awe and terror, utilizing a dense palette of dark colors contrasted with lighter tones to depict the emotional tension. The dark shades suggest a weightiness associated with fear and chaos, while the intermittent lighter colors invoke a sense of hope and brightness. The top half, representing awe, features softer edges and ripple patterns, while the bottom half, embodying terror, incorporates jagged, maze-like structures. This split between the two keeps a sense of uneasy balance, highlighting the conflict between stability and instability, as well as creating a visual echo of collision and release. The chosen palette of navy, black, white, and cyan creates layers of meaning through its contrasts, suggesting both depth and clarity amidst complexity.
