Artist Statement
This composition captures the emotional duality of tenderness and rage. The palette of red, black, pale blue, and white embodies fiery passion and quiet calm, with the warm red contrasting sharply against the cool pale blue, illustrating the struggle between these emotions. The pattern transitions from a structured 'ember' that suggests warmth and protected areas to jagged 'barcode' formations that break apart and create a visual dissonance, symbolizing rage. The main collision occurs centrally where the patterns interrupt, representing an emotional climax—soft overlaps of color struggling against sharp disruptions. The overall flow ascends, evoking hope amidst tension, while the negative spaces balance the weight of the colors, creating depth and complexity without yielding to overwhelm.
