Artist Statement
The emotional tone of this piece reflects the tension between panic and control, with the up-and-down movement suggesting instability. The chosen palette of burnt orange, dark red, charcoal, and gold conveys warmth and intensity, contrasting with cooler, muted tones to reflect the emotional struggle. The primary collision occurs between high-contrast dark and bright colors zigzagging across the square, emphasizing the broken edges which suggest disruption and conflict. The negative space is utilized to enhance feelings of anxiety, allowing the viewer to sense the gaps of control amidst chaotic patterns.
