Artist Statement
This artwork embodies the struggle between relief and dread through contrasting patterns and colors. The use of dark colors represents the weight of dread, while bright colors symbolize fleeting moments of relief. The structured placement of stripes in the top half creates a sense of control, while the disordered dots in the lower half reflects the chaos of broken symmetry, evoking an emotional tension. The electric blue offers a sharp contrast to the black, enhancing both the tension and release within the square.
