Artist Statement
This composition encapsulates the emotional contrast between vulnerability and strength through a central clash of darker, oppressive structures against lighter, exposed sections. The palette invokes a sense of heat and tension with burnt orange and dark red as dominant hues to represent strength, while charcoal provides a firm foundation, contrasting with the calm, shimmering gold that embodies vulnerability. This tension is accentuated through the use of 'ladder' patterns in the top half and 'stripes' in the bottom, creating a visual echo of resistance and support, with the collision occurring at the central seam where two patterns meet. The deliberate placement of broken pixels symbolizes emotional scars within the patterns, enhancing the feelings of both exposure and shelter.
