Artist Statement
This piece explores the emotional tension between longing and resolve through an interplay of muted colors and structured patterns. The chosen palette of ripe green, acid green, honey gold, deep olive, and cream captures the essence of both desires—longing represented by gentle greens and warmth against the resolute honey gold and deep olive which symbolize strength and clarity. The checker pattern embodies the process of longing, with its soft interruptions signifying fragments of hope and connection, while the veil pattern represents resolve, creating a clearer bound structure across the grid. The main collision occurs centrally where the two patterns meet, suggesting a crossroads between unresolved feelings and decisive action. This duality is enhanced by strategic broken pixels that introduce imperfection, echoing the remnants of damage and repair. Negative space creates a quiet channel throughout, allowing for moments of introspection amidst the vibrant patterns.
