Artist Statement
This composition embodies the tension between signal and noise, with a palette that highlights the struggle between clarity and interference. The selection of darks (dead black, static gray) represents noise while bright tones (signal green, hot magenta, electric blue) signify the signal trying to break through. The vertical barcode pattern resonates with the idea of 'signal,' while the ring pattern simulates 'noise,' creating a noticeable collision at the center that draws the eye. The uneven borders reflect the chaos at the edges of clarity—a metaphor for how noise encroaches on understanding. The negative space allows the brain to parse the dense centers amidst the static, reinforcing the theme of memory versus erasure.
