Artist Statement
This piece explores the emotional dichotomy of joy and grief through contrasting color choices and placement. The palette combines bright yellows and oranges, symbolizing joy, with deeper blues and muted purples to represent grief. The arrangement is designed with a center-heavy approach, depicting joy in the upper half, which gradually transitions to grief in the lower half, allowing the viewer to sense the shift from light to dark as a representation of emotional complexity. The broken pixels introduce imperfection, suggesting the unpredictability of emotions. The overall flow mimics falling, evoking tears or raindrops, creating a subtle rhythm that encapsulates the tension between the two emotional states while maintaining enough negative space to avoid overwhelming the viewer.
